Vernal Equinox - The Budding Trees Moon

Happy Spring! Yesterday I woke to the Finches singing exuberantly outside my window, telling me that spring was on the way. This morning, I opened my eyes to snow. As I look out my window however, I notice buds appearing on some of the trees. How appropriate since today is also the eve of the new moon; The Budding Trees Moon.

The mineral for this moon is the Opal; the power animal is the Red-Tailed Hawk; the plant is the dandelion; the color is yellow; and the clan is the Thunderbird clan.

This position on the medicine wheel teaches us patience. My first lesson in patience this morning is with the weather. As much as I really REALLY want spring to arrive with its accompanying warm weather, I know that I cannot control Mother Nature. I'm also taught that I cannot control the actions of others. By learning patience I will learn to become proactive rather than Re-Act.

Red-Tailed Hawk is one of my favorite raptors. Every time I watch this hawk fly above or sitting high in a tree, I am overwhelmed with joy. This majestic bird reminds me of my visions and to look ahead with clarity.

Along with the other teachers of this moon; The Opal's lesson is one of hope; Dandelion's lesson is a sense of balance – knowing when to root yourself and when to fly; Yellow helps us to be more receptive; and the Thunderbird clan lessons teaches us kindness and healing.

I am hopeful that this spring will bring cleansing and healing to all.

Namaste,

WS
