I'm sitting on my patio drinking tea and watching my cat playfully chase anything that moves - including my toes.
The wind quietly whispers to me in the rustle of the leaves, welcoming me back to center. I've exhausted any spare time I've had lately, and in turn, I've taxed my physical & spiritual well being.
Feeling the rejuvination of my spirit and physical energy once again, I take note of the message I am receiving. A priority one should never overlook is taking time out for oneself - in quiet meditation.
May you always find some peace and quiet for you.

Compose yourself in stillness...
"Compose yourself in stillness, draw your attention inward and devote your mind to self. The wisdom you seek lies within"
- Bhagavad Gita
I was reflecting on the quote above and realized how much I enjoy devoting time to go inward for some quiet time with myself. It amazes me how many people find it difficult to be still or even to be quiet for a moment. There is a constant need for movement and noise. I cannot imagine a day without some quiet reflection. The energy from this place rejuvenates my being and I emerge a peaceful soul.
May you find time to discover the stillness and quiet of your heart.

Journey with an old soul
On my journeys today, I passed by a beautiful old soul who was sitting on the curbside between two automobiles. His head was hung low with his cane drooped beside him. He seemed out of place, like a Century Plant on the beach.
I drove on, as did many other passer byers. But the further I continued down the road, the more my heart tugged at me ? telling me to go back. I pulled to the side of the road and waited. When traffic cleared, I completed my U-turn and head back up the hill eastward.
I pulled my motorcycle up next to the elderly Asian angel and asked him if he was okay. He looked at me and after realizing I was concerned about him he answered with the biggest smile; ?Yes, thank you very much.? And he got up. I asked again if he was okay, and he shook his head yes and said thank you.
As I started to move forward, I felt a hand on my shoulder. This man was trying to climb on the back of my motorcycle. I placed the passenger pegs down and held onto his cane as he tried to climb on. After helping his left leg maneuver over my saddlebag and rest it on the foot peg, we were off. I asked him if he was going to the next street and he just said no. I was hoping that our language barrier would not hamper me knowing when to stop and drop him off. I can see the headlines now; ?Good Samaritan takes off with Elderly Gentleman and brings him to Never Never Land.?
After driving a mile up the road, he managed a ?This is good.? So I pulled the bike into a Good Will parking lot and helped him off.
My heart felt for this man. How often am I so caught up in myself that I just pass on by ? without smelling the roses. This man was obviously tired and without energy ? unable to make it up the hill the rest of the way by himself. I'm not sure where he is in this life, but I hope that I was able to help him in his journey so he didn't have to be alone and tired.
I hope that we all can find a way to notice what's going on around us and share in one another's' journeys ? alleviating any discomfort along the way.
May your journeys be safe and peaceful!
Namaste.

Lesson from Rabbit
As I was hiking, I asked my power animals to come to me with a lesson in some form they thought best. A rabbit appeared four different times.
If you've ever watched a rabbit, they appear frightful of everything they see. Rabbit's lesson is one of fear. I began to think about this. Our thoughts are powerful and can create the environment we wish to be in or don't want to be in.
I started looking at my own thoughts and comments. Thinking positive and living the outcome we all wish to achieve creates a beautiful environment, yet we some how seem to sabbotage our thoughts with the little devil on our shoulder telling us that we're not good enough for this or that.
We can create our outcomes and move beyond our fears. We just need to be true to ourselves and quit worrying what others think. Move beyond the negative chatter we create that causes our positive outcomes to fail. How do we do this? Consciously be aware of our thoughts. When we make a statement that "I don't deserve this or that" or "I suck" - sends a negative wave of energy into the universe and in turn we are answered with "sucky" results.
Maybe we've heard so many times in the past that the goals we're trying to attain are "stupid." It's up to us to acknowledge this type of chatter but immediately say with confidence, I hear you but YOU'RE WRONG! I AM A GOOD PERSON and I will attain what is good for me!
We all deserve to be loved and that begins with loving ourselves and where we want to be.

Snake Medicine
I was meditating this afternoon, asking for some guidance on an issue I was struggling with regarding change within myself. Snake appeared to me. She spoke of my fears of change which has caused me to mask my ability to change. ?You've fallen into a rut of comfort.? she pointed out.
Snake then began shedding her skin and continued. ?By releasing the skin of your current identity, you'll move beyond static and move with the rhythm of life. You'll be transmuting the poisons that have halted your growth and find the creative power that is your sensual true being.? ?You've already begun the transformation.? she said as she pointed to the skin peeling on both of my arms from a recent sunburn. And with that, she left.
I always prided myself in my abilities to see what needed to be changed in myself and move forward with the challenge. This time however, I see what needs to happen but am paralyzed by the unknown. I think I am in the beginning of shedding myself yet my eyes are glazed over and I'm finding it difficult to release.
I wonder how many times we see a change that needs to happen within yet we find an excuse to not make this growth happen? Change doesn't happen over night ? whether it's a negative change or a positive change. So we need to open our hearts to the positive, and with love, move forward in our progress ? however tiny the steps may be.
May you remember to love yourself and where you are and where you are going in life's journey.

Autumn Equinox and The Ducks Fly Moon
Autumn Equinox
The Ducks Fly Moon
Tonight is Equinox, a time of transition from one season into the next. A time in which we prepare ourselves for the long winter months ahead. Equinox is a time for giving thanks for all we have harvested in the past months; our crops; the belongings we've acquired; the love we've received. This is also the time for The Ducks Fly Moon, the first moon positioned in the west of the Medicine Wheel.
Last night as I rode through the mountains at sunset on my motorcycle, I was blessed with the appearance of hawk at two separate occasions. Two herds of antelope also appeared at different times in the evening. However, I was honored by the sighting of a pair of Ravens sitting on a branch high above looking out at me. Raven is the power animal under The Ducks Fly Moon. Raven teaches us about balance; how to soar and dive; how to connect with both earth and sky.
As I was reflecting on all that I saw, I realized another significance ? the number 2. Two herds of antelopes, two hawks and 2 ravens. The number 2 symbolizes balance. A balance of light and dark, good and evil, give and receive, etc. I then felt my heart speak. Of Course! Two represents relationships. Whether the relationship is with a family member, a professional relationship, or with a significant other. By focusing on each of our relationships, we can find enrichment as long as the relationship is balanced and not one sided.
Tonight marks another new beginning and I will begin the ceremony with giving thanks for all I have been blessed with. I look forward to the new moon and season and the lessons that will appear.
I wish you a beautiful transition of love and peace!

True to Self - revisited
Last December I wrote the blog below and after reading this morning I realize that my intentions of seeking the light within have indeed helped not only clear out the sludge within but I noticed a dramatic change in how I was able to handle a not so positive situation. These bumps help wake me up to that inner light and I am grateful for all that happens.
May your inner light always shine bright for you and others.

There are times when we find ourselves trying to be someone we are not. Out of fear, we comply with this misguided perception and lose site of who we are and betray ourselves, diminishing the light within.
Last night, a dream spoke to me and showed me that my considerations of late would diminish my core light. For years I have worked on clearing out the sludge in order to find my inner peace and light.
At times like these, I need to sit quietly and go to that inner light - experiencing its source of strength and radiating out from within.
My mom & dad sent me a picture of my home town light house - a place I would often retreat to. I think I'll frame the picture, hang it in my office, and as I would a mandala, look to it to help me focus on my own beacon of light and strength.
May your inner light always shine bright for you and others.

Cause and Effect
Quantim physics has shown us that we are all made up of energy. Our thoughts are energy and what we think produces our future. Everything we think and do has an effect on everything and everyone else.
Remind yourself that everything you do has repercussions on all, and then act accordingly.

Addicted to Unhappiness
While perusing the books at the library, I came upon one titled "Addicted to Unhappiness" by Martha Heineman Pieper. The title struck me because I just recently returned from a trip from where everyone I encountered appeared to be anxious, angry and truly unhappy. At first I thought I was just being too sensitive, and then I stepped back to observe my own thoughts and judgment. I realized that I needed to choose how I re-acted amongst the negativity around me. By focusing on my inner-awareness, I found calm in the midst of the storm.
In our life's journey, we all encounter bumps along the way. How we choose to deal with these circumstances will either keep us unhappy as we continue playing "Victim", or we learn from the lesson and move forward. There are some who are so used to the drama of being a victim all of the time that they don't know how to change and may actually like the attention. Change begins with our thoughts. By changing our thought patterns, we change our outcome. How do we do this? By being conscious of our thoughts along with everything around us. This awareness will open up a whole new view of the world and we gradually find goodness and happiness in life. Our thoughts have an effect on all and by changing our negative thoughts into positive ones, we promote goodness all around us.
May you find peace and happiness from within.

Enjoying the rain
We've been blessed with two days of rain. As I listen to the drops against my window pane, I realize that now is the time for a cleanse in preparation for Autumn Equinox.
As the rain nurishes and cleanses mother nature, I will begin my own transformation within, in hopes that the healing light will spread without.
"As within, so without."
